Politicking is a mobile application dedicated to improving & galvanizing the millennial vote by providing information about micro and macro politics.
As an early-stage Tech/Media company, we’re looking to hire an Engineer to lead the technology team in terms of coding, fixing bugs, and future development of the Politicking mobile application and website. This person will help build a comprehensive database of information on state, local, and federal elections, which will be sourced through both web scraping and political APIs. The Engineer’s main goals will be the seamless navigation of the application and website, ensuring a quality user experience.
The React Native Developer/Engineer will be responsible for implementing key features across our platform, including API development, front-end and mobile development, and real-time/batch-level analysis.
Specific Duties:
- Work closely with the team to architect, implement, and rollout new features
- Work directly with Leadership/Team Members to ensure that engineering & business goals align
- Responsible for addressing application issues and bugs
- Responsible for coding advertising and/or monetization strategies into Politicking
- Responsible for integrating political APIs into Politicking
- Responsible for securing personal data obtained from Politicking
- Will be able to lead team of Developers as we scale
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining Firebase Analytics
- Responsible for the development/implementation on a security playbook for Politicking
- Ensure high security standards and best practices
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience in mobile app/software engineering including React/React Native
- Experience collaborating closely with Designers, Engineers, and Product Managers
- Experience building, testing, and shipping native mobile apps using Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, or Java, and Python
- Strong familiarity with debugging, profiling, and test-driven development
- Experience with SQL, ORMs, and data modeling
- Solid understanding of object-oriented and functional programming concepts
Even better if you have:
- Experience using Docker and/or Kubernetes
- Experience developing for cloud platforms, such as AWS or Google Cloud
- Familiarity with CI/CD
- Familiarity with web technologies, such as HTTP, CSS3, HTML5
- Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
